For this project, I recognized escapism in my persistent immersion into Tokyo, Japan in the years that I lived there. I first identified this as a form of escapism through my physical entrance into Tokyo, living there became a form of escapism as I lived life in this bubble. Still, this feeling of escapism stayed with me even as I moved to London.

My thoughts often drifted off to my life in Tokyo and was still an outlet for escapism through my mind. To tackle this project, I was interested in how I could share my impression of Tokyo with others. As the images of streets proved to be the most prominent signifiers that unlocked my memories and emotions, I decided to make a zine to experiment with different methods of immersing the reader into my world. I think that this project is designed for anyone but I hope for it to especially touch those who are away from home. I designed my zine with a participatory chapter so that readers will be able to add their own hometowns and relate it to their current environments. My zine is a collection of reflections that I have identified here in London of Tokyo. I used graphics to create a sense of symmetry between the two places and to display the aspects they have in common.
