Waiting pad
This collaboration project is made with a London based poet. We worked together to recreate his experience dealing with the pressures of being a waiter in a reality that offers few alternatives for young artists. The endless repeated tasks and this feeling of aimlessness is really what I tried to translate through the animations and the distortion of the body.
Process:
For these animations, I used the animation and characters from Mixamo to create very simple, low poly animations. What I was very invested in was a new technique of texturing that creates a 2-colour world but that interacts with light in a very unique way creating various textures. It is a technique I borrowed from the first steps of making cartoon animation in 3d but I simply limited it to black and white and played with the shading properties of the mesh to make it react differently to light. I then also used 3d scans of a rabbit’s skulls taken from by a friend. I also played with very basic hair and cloth simulations offered by Blender.
